A rare small sized circular Hokai container with chased brass hardware decorated on the lid with a six layer 16 petal chrysanthemum, the floral symbol of the Imperial Household. The container is made of wood covered with black lacquer decorated with gold powder hira-maki-e with brass hardware. Hokai were a standard accoutrements to any household of means, however this size is quite rare. It is not the miniature version from a doll set...

A sagar or kiln shelf support covered in running green and iron glaze from the Edo period kilns of Tamba. The super-heated clay has sloughed off on one side, where it is likely the kiln shelf may have collapsed allowing it to cool in this unusual way. It stands on three legs of soft clay which are affixed to the bottom to keep it from sticking to the shelf below...

Liquid Green ash seems to overflow the rim of this heavily potted Iga vase by Iga star Kojima Kenji enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Iga Mimitsuki Hanaire. The term Mimi refers to ears, usually a pair of lug like handles opposing each other on a pot. Here the ears have been elongated, more like lobes of some ancient sage, and become one with the wide flange of the base. Otherwise the mouth is modulating, the body cut and whacked with random symbols and pallet scars...

This is a Japanese antique, small Porcelain doll from 1868 to 1900. It is a design of a girl who rides a very charming bicycle. Japanese Mid-Edo Period Akao Tsuba with exotic palm tree design. The palm design is done in great detail and realism. Signed YOSHITSUGU. The Tsuba measures 2 13/16" tall, 2 3/4" wide and 5/32" thick.

This is an attractive vintage Japanese Cloisonne vase. It is much like another piece we currently have listed but of higher quality. It may be from Ando. The wireless enamel work on the mountain and clouds is very good. Except in the foreground, the enamel colors are soft pastel tones of gray/blue. It just under 7 inches tall and 5 inches wide. There is a minor dent to bottom rim that can not be seen when on display. otherwise the condition is outstanding.

Japanese antique Thick hand-spun otton tsutsugaki Horse cover of the Edo period.(1800-1867)The string currently attached to this is shirakage-shibori-dye. It is very impressive and beautiful. It is made of hand-spun and hand-woven and natural indigo dyed cotton. It has a thin stain. However, it is in a state good on the whole. size:190cm x 47cm (74.8" x 18.5")

This is very fine Imari Pedestal bowl. In fact one of the best ones we have come across. It has very fine workmanship and there are many symbolic characters mixed into the busy design so look close at the images. This is a very attractive Japanese Imari bowl. For an old Imari piece it is in excellent condition. It is also a very heavy piece potted. The bowl measures 8 1/2 inches across and 4 inches tall.

A slip inlaid olive drab celadon stoneware pottery pear form bottle vase. Decoration of fish in black inlaid slip over a ground of white slip inlaid punched flowerheads. Possibly Japanese (see Korean legacy wares from provinces in Kyushu [Hizen, Higo, Satsuma] illustrated in Morse) and possibly Korean Joseon era punchong ware. Signed on bottom.
