$450.00 A fine shoe-shaped - katsugata tea bowl of black Oribe (oribe-kuro chawan), the coarse Mino clay is covered with a thick black glaze, on one side a cartouches featuring irregular strips patterns in iron-brown glaze on creamy ground.
Japan, Edo, Meiji period, 19th cent. L 13.5 cm, H 6.5 cm. Condition: Excellent with signs of use and wear.

Made with very thin strips of madake bamboo in different techniques, rattan and lacquer. Insert water container in black lacquered bamboo. Unsigned but it comes with the artist’s old information paper and old Japanese paper box.

A rare bamboo chado tea caddy for powdered green tea, the interior covered with black lacquer. The exterior carved with the four gentlemen of winter: plum, bamboo, chrysanthemum and orchid. Subtly embellished with silver wire. Condition: lower part with a crack, silver wire partially lost, a bit dusty, traces of age. Dimension: height: c. 6.3 cm, diameter: c. 5.7 cm.

$3,500.00 An antique Japanese bamboo basket made for Ikebana flower arranging. Depicts an archaic Chinese bronze vessel with flared open mouth design with side handles. The weave of the body suggests the pattern that would have imbued if this were a bronze form. Base is a six pointed foot with maker's sign that reads Sarihen.

sold, thank you A beautiful Shigaraki Chaire Tea urn by Matsuo Takaaki enclosed in the original signed wooden box measuring 5.5 cm (2 inches) diameter, 8 cm (3 inches) tall in excellent condition. Matsuo Takaaki was born in Yokohama in 1938. He began studies under Tsuji Seimei at Renkoji in 1960 where he trained for over 15 years. He became independent in 1975 and built a climbing kiln in Tama. Since he has been exhibited with the Issuikai but mainly focuses on the intimacy of private exhibitions.
