Vintage Japanese kiri wood round smoking set made from one piece of wood showing a bold beautiful grain. This tobacco smoking hibachi has a copper bowl and receptacle which are used to put a pipe or other smoking tools and ashes. Often used with tea ceremony, it measures 3.5" high x 6.5" diameter.

An antique okinawan incense container decorated with a lacquer and inlayed mother of pearl depicting a dragon appearing from clouds. Circa 19th Century. Mother-of-pearl inlay, which is known Raden in Japan was first introduced to Japan during Nara period (710-784). The technique was popularly used with lacquer for artworks such as instruments. It is in good condition with tiny loss of inlayed mother of pearl. The piece accompanied a poulownia wood store box...

Large Japanese Showa period circular form burlwood tray with raised sides made from a single piece of wood. 15 7/8” diameter x 2 1/4" high. The raised sides are 3/8" thick. Weighs just over 2 lbs. Likely dates from the first half of the 20th century. Very good overall condition. From the estate of a collector of Japanese mingei in Phoenix, Arizona. The original price tag remains on the bottom.

Regal free-flowing bamboo and rattan basket from one of the masters of bamaboo basket making, Sakaguchi Sounsai b. 1899-1967. Studied under Tanabe Chikuunsai I and was active in the Osaka and Kyoto region. Featured on page 90 of 'Masters of Bamboo by Melissa Rinne. Inspired the works of Iizuka Rokansai, this open weave basket with richly toned dark red-brown split bamboo has a slightly tapering cylindrical body with an offset loop handle at the top. Signed with an incised signature on the bottom. Comes with a bamboo water container. Dates late 20th century. Measures 8” high including handle, 4.74” diameter. This basket had a very nice sheen to it that is not being captured by the photos. You will be pleased.
