Beautiful Japanese 19th century gilt copper Keman with lotuses. This keman once hung from beams above the altar of a Japanese Buddhist temple. Traditionally, keman are decorated with floral designs originally derived from the use of flower garlands in temples in India. This keman has rare and very old blue glass beads and is remarkably intact. Translation writes that an honored donor named Demura Kojiro presented to temple in city of Wakayama in January Meiji 23 (c1890)...

Three tough looking toads work together to support the base ring of this unusual leaf-shaped bronze Usubata flower basin enclosed in an antique wooden box. It is signed on the base simply “Oka”. Roughly 11 inches (27 cm) diameter, 8 inches (20 cm) tall.

Japanese bronze vase in the shape of a stalk of bamboo, with a snail crawling upside down on its frontside and a toad leaning against its base, looking up at the snail. Has a signature signed Atsuyoshi with a seal from the workshop by the artists of Maruki studio and cartouche on its lower backside.

He is associated with wealth and prosperity and is commonly portrayed seated upon bales of rice surrounded by mice, which symbolize plentiful food. Antique set of two Japanese flower vase known as an usubata, used in the art of ikebana or flower arranging, made from mixed metals. They both have square tops with a swirling wind design blowing silver and gold leaves about, oriental designs along the top rim, and beautiful flower designs along the outer rim. The left and right sides of the usubatas' bodies have very detailed dragons with lashing tongues and finned wings...

A magnificent and rare Amida Nyorai bronze Buddha, made in the early Edo Period, which means in the early 17th. century. This statue was made in a way called lost-wax metal casting, also known as Rougata Chuuzou, which was popular only in the 6th. century and in the Edo time.

The statue is in good antique condition with no repairs or cracks.

An antique Japanese bronze water pot or ewer decorated and shaped in the style emulating Chinese Shang dynasty bronzes. The tripod leg often is referring to the ding where it was thought that these vessels were used to serve wine. Has a Kanji charactor on base that can be translated to men "to offer". A Japanese iron garden lantern often referred to as a toro. Often these lanterns are placed within a garden setting to guide guests towards a tea house or an entrance to a building. The iron lantern contains a short inscription with the date when the piece was made (first year of Taisho, 1912) and that the lantern was made by Yojiro. Antique Japanese Bronze sculpture extremely well modeled and superbly executed with stunning details depicting a young Japanese philosopher Kinjiro Ninomiya Sontoku carrying a bundle of firewood on his back and an axe through the back of his belt.
