There is a cast rectangular reserve on the tigers belly which says Seiya Sake(Sei ya made), which would indicate that the statue was made in the Genryusai Seiya Workshop. A Bronze elephant under attack by two tigers, one tiger is on his back, and one is under his front foot. The elephant has a finely chased hide and original ivory tusks, and the tigers have etched bronze strips. There is a makers mark inscribed on the bottom of the elephant's right front foot which says "Jonon"(south castle). The okimono measures about 7" wide x 7 1/2" tall, and dates to the Meiji Period. A large white bronze Koro by Tsuda Eiju exhibited at the 14th Nitten in 1982. It is published in the catalog for that year, and comes with the Nitten card upon which it is pictured. The creature is 45 cm (18 inches) tall, 30 cm (12 inches) wide and in excellent condition. Tsuda Eiju (1915-2001) studied under Tsuda Shinobu (1875-1946) eventually becoming his heir. He was accepted into and awarded at the Nitten National Exhibition many times including the Hokutosho prize.

A pair of antique Japanese candlesticks dating to the Meiji period 1868-1911. The stands are made of copper and measure about 17 1/2" tall x 5 1/2" in diameter, across the weighted bottoms. The stands have been engraved with an assortment of family mons, both on the bases, and up the sticks. The condition is very good. There are no dents or broken pieces, and a dark patina has developed over the years. The asking price includes shipment within the USA.
