Bonji Sanskrit characters pierce the lotus finialed lid of this large antique bronze incense burner. The vajra-like finial topped in the shape of a lotus flower is hollow, the lotus seed pod pierced with holes to allow the smoke to escape like a chimney. A fine,large and very heavily cast Japanese bronze flower vase of shaped dodecagonal cross section, with central reticulated floral section and pierced galleried rim. 15 in. 38 cms. high and 29 cms across the top. Edo/Meiji period, mid 19th century. Signed on the base Gyoko. Weight in excess of 3kg.

Cornet-shaped, in bronze with a brown patina, it rests on 3 feet scalloped in foaming waves rising towards a base decorated with other waves. The body is also decorated in its center with an openwork knot of vine branches and bunches of grapes. The neck is widely flared into a floral corolla. Signed Toto Hidemitsu Kansei under the base. Height: 39.5 cm.

Rare large pair of beautiful original Japanese bronze temple lanterns with gilt highlights. A Sasarindo crest on the section where the light would be placed; the Sasarindo is the bamboo leaves and gentian flowers crest of the Minamoto clan.
The doors are fully functional. Each lantern is made of 6 individual cast bronze sections. A pearl in a flame sits on top of each lantern. Two very intricate dragons wrap around the lanterns. There are abundant motifs of dragons, flames and clouds...

Unusual large pair of antique giboshi (bridge finials). Made of bronze mixed with a substantial amount of copper. This can be seen in areas of where people's hands have rubbed back the finish. A lovely almost black patina with areas of green. Very heavy and solid. Unusual to have a matching pair this size. Mid Edo Period (circa 1800's). Size: 16 1/2" high x 8" wide diameter.

A patinated bronze okimono of a young woman with a wonderful face, dating to the Meiji period. On her back and in her hand she is carrying iris flowers. Signed on the base. Dimension: 34 cm high, weight: 3.7 kg. Condition: few areas with wear to the patina.

A pair of large mixed metal birds on a custom black lacquered table by Iwase Seifu enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled So-Hato Okimono. Excellent detail, the birds are life sized, the strutting male figure signed on the posterior is roughly 9 inches long, 8 inches tall. Both are in good condition, with some wear to the silvering.

Massive Japanese bronze tripod censer decorated on opposing sides with a central panel featuring peacocks and birds in high relief. The handles are stylized bird form. The cover is decorated with stylized pierced waves and topped with an elephant finial. Late Meiji to Taisho Period (1880-1920). Massively huge Dark Bronze Japanese Temple Bell Bowl, with ridged edges along its rim and raised, scale-like pattern around its bottom. . Japanese Temple Bell Bowl was used during chanting, or as an indication of a change in time or activity. This is truly the largest bell bowl I have ever seen. Three stamped kanji characters "Kin Ryu ____?" on rim translates as Golden Dragon _____? (last one is illegible). Excellent condition and sound. It's extraordinary size: 17.25" height, 20.25" width

Massive Japanese Taisho period bronze jardinière cast with four lobes in high relief with chidori (Japanese sparrows) perched on or flying among flowering cherry branches. A lappet band extends around the circumference where the top of the incurving shoulder meets the short, straight neck with everted rim. The ovoid form body rests on a splayed base.
