Japanese choba tansu (merchant's chest), Keyaki wood, beautiful grain and lacquer finish, heavy iron hardware with elaborate lock plates and warabite shaped drawer pulls. Top portion has two medium sized drawers, a small drawer and a safe door, the bottom portion has two full width drawers, nice side handles, Shonai area. Size: 28" high x 30" wide x 15 1/2" deep.

A vintage Japanese style Choba Tansu (merchant chest) made of Keyaki (Zelkova) and Kirinoki (Paulownia) woods. Two large full width drawer with two small drawers and sliding doors behind which is a spacious storage area. Horizontal side ribs add visual design and strength to the chest.

Contemporary function would include using it as a sideboard, a cocktail cabinet or an elegant side table.

A vintage Japanese 2 section special Kamo Tansu kimono chest made entirely of Kirinoki (Paulownia) and Kuwanoki (Mulberry) wood. Contemporary Korean single section kitchen cabinet, made with bold elm wood (Keyaki in Japanese). This piece has an upper and lower set of sliding doors with attractive latticework over rice paper. The top and mid region have four small drawers across, with the very top middle drawers as hidden compartments. The bottom of the piece has two doors on hinges, and a middle lock to match the others.
