On Hold This is a fabulous rare piece of Japanese Cloisonne. It is not signed but it could have easily been made Hayashi, Kinuken, or Miwa. It stands inches 6 inches tall and is in excellent condition.

SOLD This is another rare offering as we have never seen anything like this piece before. The piece has a beautiful mix of butterflies and flowers with a gradation of tones throughout the body. It is not signed and likely could have be made by one of these artists, Hattori, Sosuke, or Kumeno. With the lid on, the jar stands 20 1/2 inches. Condition is very good but there are some slight firing flaws in the enamel, damage to an area near one of the feet and a side blemish to the enamel...

$1,600.00 This is a rare cloisonne bowl from Gonda that features 16 wireless egrets. This bowl is stoutly made and is heavy. It measures 7 inches across and is 5 1/4" tall. The condition is very good with some expected wear. The bowl has 2 very minor, under the surface lines that can be seen in the last image.

The decor is simple, showing a bridge between two hills but exceptional because of its historical interest. Indeed it is a vase commemorating the bold construction of an aqueduct by a Japanese electricity company in the 1900s. The Chinese characters written below must relate the event, date it and also probably give the name of the creative artist or that of the enameling workshop...

Sold This pair of vases was recovered from an estate in the Castroville/Watsonville area of California, over 20 years ago. This area is known as the Artichoke Capital of the world. When I recovered these vases they had been lamps and have since had the bottom drills hole restored. These vases are old but probably not Meiji era. On Hold Here is a beautiful but unsigned Namikawa Sosuke vase. Those familiar with Sosuke's work, will know this vase was made by the master and is authentic. It's a stoutly made piece with silver rims. It stands 6 1/4 inches tall. This vase is in excellent condition. I have also provided an image of a later made, but very similar signed Sosuke vase.

SOLD Late 19th Century Japanese cloisonne bronze charger with a flock of flying cranes. Beautifully designed, it measures 12 inches in diameter. There are a few stress marks in the upper left side, please study last photograph where I have enlarged and highlighted the area through photoshop. It is not as evident in person. Pricing has taken this into account.
