SOLD Description: A bronze censer with stylized loops was in hefty weight and molded with very fine quality.
In a fantastic darkish-red patina(which was very much favored by Chinese connoisseurs who used to describe the color as Red of Ripe Dates),
The stooped censer stands by its bulge tripod feet in an elegant way...
Chinese late Qing to early Republic period ceramic modeled container shaped like a "ha ma," or toad, with a hollow body and flat base covered in a monochrome pearl glaze with a seeded finish. Measures about 10 ½”L x 9 ¼”W x 6”H. There are some old surface cracks visible. The back section appears to have been restored and the gray areas in the pearl glaze appear to be old restorations which were executed in China...

SOLD to USA OCT 07 售至美国 - 2007年10月 A rare very well carved soapstone sculpture of Lui Hai in traditional pose ensnaring the three -legged toad with a string of cash. This item was made circa 1750 - 1800 during the reigns of either the Qianlong or the Jaiqing Emperors. The tip of one finger is missing and there is an old glued repair - most visible on the upper foot. Little of the original paintwork is now visible.
Height - 7.5 inches (19cm)...

Chinese scholar's desk root wood (possibly cypress) sculpture depicting Sanxing (Three Star Gods) representing longevity, happiness, and wealth. The god of wealth holds a small child representing wishes for future good fortune through healthy offspring. Measures nearly 11" high by 12" long. Late Qing dynasty to early Republic period. Very good overall condition. There is old bug damage to the back of two heads which appears at one time to have been filled (see enlargements 9 and 10)...

The base carries the underglaze blue seal mark of the Daoguang Emperor and was made during his reign (1821-1850).
There is a 4cm hairline running from the rim ...

Sold. Thank you! A woven square taken from the front of a Chinese Emperor's robe with a front facing dragon in couched gold and a constellation symbol.
Yellow (or apricot yellow) robes could only be worn by the Emperor or Empress. The color has faded and changed to this current tan color. Each Emperor's robe had twelve symbols of Imperial Authority embroidered on it in specific places. We can see "The Constellation" which represents the handles of Ursa Major, the Big Dipper, just above the dragon's head...
Qing Dynasty (19th century) Chinese Manchu style robe decorated in embroidered dragons chasing flaming pearls (symbolizing the Buddhist notion of enlightenment) executed in gold-couched thread on a blue silk ground. The eight full-face and profile four-clawed dragons are surrounded by clouds and various auspicious symbols. The dragon's eyes are accented in black and white. An embroidered panel surrounding the neckline is filled with additional dragons running across the top of waves...

This is an old hand woven carpet in great quality. The whitish areas shown in some photos are reflections of light on the silk. The five claws dragons are woven on a brown metal background (gilt copper)... Large by Western standards, this is actually the "childs" size version of this foo dog necklace worn by the Chinese Miao minority 70-90 years ago. Made of low grade silver, typical of Chinese jewelry of the time period, the intricate pendant is 5.5 inches across, 6.5 inches long and suspended from a long hand-made chain...

SOLD Description: A Lohan head was finely carved from a buff-tinted sandstone. By a downcast gazing look, the handsome Buddhist disciple was depicted neatly on the features. The slanted eyelids, the slightly bulged eyeballs, the slender and pointed nose, and the vivid and lightly closed mouth etc. all of them were rendered in a natural and vivid way. In a plain form without any decoration, the Lohan head piece was expressed with a serene atmosphere that the traditional Buddhist sculptures would own.
