The dragon's legs have 4 claws which would seem to exclude imperial affiliation, however the monumental size of more than 5 to 6 meters long would indicate an order for a temple or for the palace of an important person. You have to imagine the golden dragon writhing on an immense panel of dark wood carved with flames and clouds...

Cast bronze mirror holder representing a Ki-Lin. The fabulous Chinese animal is surrounded by sparks, it carries a cloud on its back which is used to hold a removable mirror, which has now disappeared. The unusually small dimension leads one to assume that this is a travel mirror holder? The animal is lying down and the sculptor has modeled an exaggeratedly wide hindquarters to give good stability to the whole...

Guanyin in cast bronze. The deity is represented standing, wearing a long dress, she holds a bottle in her hand. The bronze is very worn but has a superb old patina. Northern China Tang dynasty. 7th-9th century.It was soldered late with tin on a square bronze base so that it could stand upright. Height: 135mm

The reverse of the dress is chiseled with stylized flowers. The base is closed by an incised copper plate of Vajra. The base does not appear to have been opened. The two arm bracelets were originally to have stone beads, today replaced by a colored coating...

Budai is the Chinese "Père Noël" ,the Japanese calls him Hoteï. He carries toys in a big bag and distributes them to children who adore him and are sometimes represented at his side. The god is seated, his half-open robe reveals his large belly, a symbol of his generosity. He holds his rosary in his hand. Oddly enough his big bag is missing. It is sculpted from a beige steatite ( soap stone) stained with pink, on the skull appear red veins of the stone...

Old buddhist altar representing Buddha and two bodhisattvas, each one standing on a lotus and backed by a mandorla, the whole group surmounted by the Buddhist Flaming Pearl and resting on a double lotus. Apocryphal reign mark beneath (Emperor Qian Long). Bronze with fine age patina. China, late 19th century. Height: 17 cm. Very good condition.

Chinese ceramic Buddha, circa 1900-1930 (Qing – Early Republic). The iconography is quite unusual there is a seated Buddha image on the chest, standing Buddha image on the back, and another image of the Buddha in Parinirvana reclining pose. A spending antique Chinese Kwan Yin sculpture made in the late Ming Dynasty. Kwan Yin or Guanyin and Avalokiteshvara is the Bodhisattva of compassion. Here she stands samabhanga on a simple base with robes flowing and clinging naturally over and to her long, slender body. Her feet peek from beneath her robes.

Her hands are held with her thumb and middle finger touching in the vitarka mudra of teaching. Her hair is piled high on her head. Her gaze serene and slightly downcast...
