The duck is well carved and pegged into the top and you can turn it slightly. However, I would not know if you would be asking for trouble if you tried pulling it out. Small deer in cast bronze. The animal is shown lying down. It's a roe, stag or maybe a deer. Very good quality of sculpture. The perfection of the volumes, the search for detail and the neat finish are similar to those that we admire on the Netsuké. This little deer must be a Japanese work rather than a Chinese one, it is impossible to date it with exactness. Probably Edo or earlier. The deer was the protector of Buddhism. 85mm x 54mm The base pierced with a square hole...

Snowy landscape, in the foreground pine branches (?) bending under the snow, in the distance a mountain, black crows contrast with the ambient whiteness and grayness of this freezing winter. Watercolor on extremely fine silk canvas. Beautiful composition good mastery of the brush, unfortunately no signature. It's hard to say if it's a Japanese or Chinese creation, but usually on Japanese landscapes when a mountain is represented it's almost always Mount Fuji, which is not the case here...

The teapot is cast in bronze. The body has the shape of a melon and the spout that of a stylized bird. The handle supports have a typical shape for this period. The handle, which has now disappeared, must have been made of perishable materials, probably braided bamboo fibre. It is exceedingly rare to find a Chinese bronze teapot from this period. It is functional and perfectly pours the tea without uncontrolled drips. Good condition, the lid is crack (see photo), no restoration...

In addition to the martial aspect, taiko has been used in the most refined cultural settings as well...

Small tripod miniature incense burner of simple form in cast bronze. The two handles are unusually very thin. Below we can see the 6 characters of the reign of Xuande of the Ming Dynasty. The bronze is old, the beautiful patina attests to it. However, it is difficult to date it exactly. Usually the bronzes bearing the mark of Xuande are from the 17th century. A wooden base and lid were added later, probably in the 19th century...

Censer in form of Tripod vase (Ding shape) in Chinese porcelain. Underglaze decoration of dragons with 5 claws in cobalt blue and copper red. The dragons are chasing the sacred pearl. Below the mark of Wanly. It is probably an apocryphal mark. The object may simply be from the Kanghi period, the worm nibbles around the edge seem to confirm this period? Some experts believe that red copper was not used in the late Ming, but some examples of imperial Chiaching and Wanly porcelain in copper red exi...

Rare water-pot,dropper? (too little for wine and not covered for tea) for schollar in Sancai enameled porcelain, Kangxi period. Fruit-shaped, appears to be a pomegranate, with stem leaves and flower. The flower is admirably made with thin petals like paper which is daring, miraculously none is missing, however, looking with a magnifying glass we can see on the edges of small gaps that we can guess or imagine on photo but it is not obvious because the petals are naturally jagged. Honestly, it's r...

Cast bronze censer gilded with mercury. Decor of Greek friezes and incised precious objects. The gilding is largely worn, we still see some in the places most protected from wear and tear. It is thick and of good quality, it is a hot-pasted mercury gilding technique. The handles are attached to the body they were cast with it, they are not added, riveted or welded, they represent dragon heads. On the base foot we can see a vertical dark trace of solding that is probably an old restauration. Diff...
