Sold An old soapstone seal was in very good mood of scholar taste.
Two lions were vibrantly rendered on the top of the seal as a knob. While well maneuvered inscriptions were on four side of the stamp. For Chinese literati, the scholar taste was most treasured, by the meaning of the inscriptions and by the craftsmanship of the carving on the inscription.The seal obtained all these characteristics. And the tint of this stone was in great mood too...

Price on Request Charming Chinese Ming Dynasty painting of a pair of cats sitting under a branch of blossoming peonies. The larger of the two cats, a calico, has his eyes fixed on a butterfly. The other cat, a wild eyed tabby, crouches with a large spider in his mouth. Wonderfully painted with great detail and whimsy. Mineral colors and ink on silk with silk mounting (was once a scroll). There is a chop in the lower left hand corner...

Price on Request Antique Chinese scroll painting of a dramatic waterfall. The water crashes over tiers of craggy rock formations. On one rock two scholarly figures stand and contemplate the scene. Painted in black ink and light colors on paper. Margins on either side of the painting are full of calligraphy. Signed Fu Bao Shi (1904-1965)

Sold A quite large bamboo brush pot, all around deeply carved with warriors among a pagoda landscape. Condition: the separately carved volute foot with losses. One warrior with missing arm (see picture no.6), few cracks. Dimension: 18.5 cm high, diameter: c. 13.1 cm.

Depicting several generations of high ranking officials and their wives. Bright colours and very fine painting. Condition: age wear, paint loss, cracks, traces of repainting. The painting had been remounted. Personally I would remove the borders and have the painting framed. Dimensions: the painting 95 x 150 cm, the scroll 109 x 210 cm.

The second of two Chinese Qing scrolled paintings on silk after Ding Yunpeng (active 1584-1638). 19th century or earlier. The size, including mounting, is 91”V x 23 1/4”H (painting: 86”V x 21 1/8”H). Good overall condition. The top wood bar is missing and a section of the top silk mounting is tattered. The painting has some typical buckling, creasing, soiling, and wear. Sold together with item #1331943. From an old Tucson, Arizona collection...
Two panels from a multipart Chinese ink and color on silk painting after Ding Yunpeng (active 1584-1638). The first Signed “Nanyu Ding Yunpeng” and with two red seals. Measures 94.5”V (85.5”V excluding mounting) x just under 23”H. 19th century or earlier. Very good overall condition. There is some soiling to the mount and the painting has some typical buckling, soiling, and wear. See item #1331946 for a description and images of the second panel...
