A Chinese small box made of zitan wood on the walls and huanghuali wood on the bottom. A very thinly carved jade cover decorated with a picture on top depicting a scholar holds a lotus flower walking under a pine tree in a rocky mountain. Small Guangxu ink well, circa 1880's, dense, heavy and beautiful. It could also have been used as a small brush washer and doubled as a document or paper weight when not in use. In good condition it has a few nicks around the outer edge expected with a well used piece. Measures 3.25 wide x 1.25 high.

Very hard to find Chinese scholar's desk plank. Made of huanghuali wood, the plank has aged beautifully having a wonderful warm golden patina with a beautiful sheen. There are 3 minor age cracks at 3 of the 4 corners. These cracks do not compromise the integrity of this incredible scholar's item, but instead attests to its age. Planks were used to set objects on that a Scholar was using. He could have also used it to display an item or items. Measures 15" x 6.5" x .5"

This plaque must have been part of a scholar's screen. It is carved in a Duan stone of 2 layers of different colors. An ochre layer and a brown layer. The brown layer is carved in depth until the ochre layer appears. The decoration is thus cut in brown on an ochre background.Qing period 19° century or earlier. On the reverse side we can see the traces of the tool which should give indications for a more precise dating. Accident, broken and glued again. 206 x 302 x 8 mm
