Chinese Conch Shell shape Sancai Monochrome three colored Ceramic Brush Washer with a green Frog resting on top of the Conch Shell and drinking and swallowing brush washer water out of conch shell dish, Ca. 19th century, late 1800's, 2 3/4" high-maximum measurement, 5 1/2" x 3 1/2" wide. The opening of the shell is 2 3/4" x 1 3/4" wide. The Sancai glaze is beautifully spread out with few firing glaze cracks about 1/2" to 1/4" long...

A very unusual and extremely rare ink cake in the form of a crouching dog, circa 1800. From its underside you see evidence that the ink cake was hand molded, what is even more remarkable is that this is a white ink cake, and most likely would have been used in special paintings of the scholar class. Very collectible ink cake of a Chinese woman in traditional Chinese attire wearing padded armor and holding the Chinese Army (1912 -1929)flag while her left hand crosses over body and rests on the sword pummel. The detailing is excellent and this is one of those items that looks better in person than in the photos. We feel comfortable with a pre-1920 dating. It measures 5.5" (14 cm) high, 4" (10.2 cm) widest, .75" (1.9 cm) deep.

The feet, base and rim are finished with a finely executed narrow raised band.
