Unusually large Tibetan copper and silver or silverplate mihrab form reliquary, or portable shrine box, decorated in repousse on the cover with a pattern of abstract scrolls. The back, sides, and side handles are copper. Also called a “gau,” these prayer boxes were used to hold protective amulets, personal deities, and written prayers. AN ELEGANT CHINESE PAKTONG TOBACCO PIPE, 19THC

The pipe looks a little like yellow brass in some pictures but this is a result of recent tarnishing, perhaps I should have polished it a little before taking the photographs. The base has an engraved inscription. 19th century I suspect. Especially nice is the cloud collar and the subtle shape of the base, almost peach-shape in section.

Rare and slender Silver/Paktong Opium Pipe, QING Dynasty. The damper/bowl is in the shape of a poppy/opium bulb and is held by a hand. This hand holding the bulb/damper has a very distinct double fish engraved on it's base which in Feng Shui is the symbol of wealth, abundance and attracting good luck (see photograph #4). Antique Chinese bronze incensor with pair of peaches as lid. The body is incised with a commemorative message: indebtedness by the students, the giver of gifts, spring in the year of the dragon, one of a pair. Peaches are very important in chinese culture, they symbolize life, immortality, and good fortune. It has a hanging arm with a bat charm. It measures 20" tall with hanging arm, base 4" wide. 19th century, 1821-1850.

Gorgeous antique Chinese religious libation cup with Buddhist symbols; double fish, ball of fire, lotus flower, shell, curling chimera. A shou character for good fortune on the bottom of the cup. Made out of bronze with worn gilt and a belt hook of beautifully carved white jade. Age: 18th/19th century. Size: 2" height x 3.75" length.

Antique chinese bronze figure of a child from the Ching dynasty, 18-19th century. The child is resting atop a cloak, barefoot. He wears a hat on his back of a traditional woven style. His hair is tied in the traditional knots, heavy. It measures 4" tall by 3" wide.

19th C bronze Chinese vase featuring elegant lines and a beautiful warm patina. Condition is very good with some surface micro abrasions, interior with scattered dots of patination (see last photo), all of which are consistent with age. Circa 1860-1880. Measures 6 1/8 inches high, 3 1/8 inches across.

Bronze Ming Dynasty censer in the shape of a Buddha's hand citron, a citrus planet originating from China, named so for its resemblance to hand gestures known as mudra, which Buddha is commonly depicted making. The censer's lid has the shape of leaves and the plant sits on its own vines.
