The lacquer has withstood the centuries well, it bears the beautiful wrinkles of the retraction of the wood, typical of this period. Worn decor, broken wooden base, glued. It has two metal handles on its sides, a front lock, and comes with a sheet of glass to lay over the top of the chest so objects can be placed over it without damaging the lacquer. Antique Chinese large 12-panel Coromandel screen with sweeping scene of palace life. Inside the palace the emperor attends to royal business while he and other noblemen are waited on. To the far left, the empress sits in her pavilion while court ladies attend her and children play in the gardens. Outside the palace walls on the far right, a procession and military exercises are observed by noblemen...

Lacquer and wickerwork, the inside of the lid serves as a presentation bowl for sweets. Decorated with Buddhist symbols. H. 16 cm, diameter 15 cm. Cyclical date 1857. Good condition with normal age wear.

Chinese lacquer export chair. Sturdy construction and black lacquer. The Chinese chair is patterned after an archaic style with flanges and apron spandrels. It's decorated with red undertone and gilt lacquer in a scrolling lotus motif. The main back splat forms an archaic Hu vase painted with fine details of a classical landscape. The seat is beautifully worn as are the chair rails and arm rests. The underside of the chair has a cross frame for structural support...

Chinese Red Cinnabar Lacquer Lamp Finial, 2 1/8" high, 1 3/4" wide, can be used for old and new hardware parts. The carving nice and the condition is good.

Chinese Lacquer Papier Mache Dish, 3/4" diameter, made during 18th to 19th century. Large Chinese Character in gold in the center on a very rich dark red lacquer background. There are some red lacquer loses around the rim.

An unusual leather box lacquered red on the outside. There is writing on the inside of the box. The writing might be to identify the item or the manufacturer. Size: L.43cm. W. 11cm. H. 6.5cm. Condition: No repairs. Some chips on the lacquer from age.

Unusual three tiered red lacquered old box with a design of a tree with mother of pearl inlay and images which looks like clouds or stylized bats for good luck. Size: H 25cm X 25cm X 23cm. Condition: Some chipping from age.

Carved in fine detail is this deep red cinnabar box of a scholar with young boy in a garden setting. Made in the traditional method of applying many layers of cinnabar red lacquer, the carvings are deep and well executed. The inside and bottom of this box are black lacquer. In excellent condition, this box dates approximately 1910-1920 and measures about 4” x 2” (10 cm x 5 cm)

A unusual rare black wooden lacquered plate with a three fish design and a little frog. Very unusual to find wooden plates from that period. Age: Ten Kingdoms, 907 - 979 AD Size: Radius: 17cm. Condition: Some dirt incrustation from long burial and small old chips around the rim and one little piece glued on the rim. Overall not bad for the age. See photos.
