The central design is encircled by a moulded eight panel border on the cavetto with stylized peach branches alternating with Daoist symbols. The back is decorated with eight panels holding lingzhi within a circle...

His attribute is a fan which is said to bring the dead back to life and turn stone into gold or silver. He wears an open robe with gilt accenting, and comes with a fitted hand carved hardwood stand. He is temperamental but compassionate towards the sick and needy, who he heals using special medicine from the gourd he carries around his waist. Lan's gender is always shown in an androgynous manner. The figure's earholes, nostrils, and mouth are pierced through. The bright enamel robes are accented in gilt pigment.
