This impressive and imposing pair of pottery figures was made during the early Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). They are "heavily-potted" and made from a fine-grained pale grey pottery... Lovely example of Han tomb sculpture. Made of red pottery, painted with red, white and black pigments. Both are in good condition, with normal age wear. Please note the remains of plant roots on one of the oxen, a very good sign of authenticity. A TL report from Ralf Kotalla confirms the age. H. 16 cm, L. 20 cm.

Ritual low food bowls or dishes for a rich Ming dynasty tomb, shaped in relief after the Chrysanthemum flower with a glaze of torquise and olive colours. Quite rarely seen as a large pottery model! Size: Each dish measure around 130 mm... Two solid pottery sculptures with the original painting. H. 22,5 and 20,5 cm. Both in very good condition, although invisible restaurations are quite common on these early archaeological pieces. Thermoluminescence report by Laboratory Kotalla is included. This fine and impressive matching pair of male and female figures was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906)... Green glazed pottery stye, containing 5 moulded goats, a typical burial gift from the Han Dynasty (206BC-220AD). Diameter 22 cm. H. 7 cm.
Condition: iridescent glaze with normal age wear.
Ex private collection The Hague, collected in the 90’s.
