Very beautiful and delicate antique lacquered mask of Xienfang Xiaojie, Miss Vanguard, wearing her characteristic phoenix headdress ; very expressive handwork, remnants of original marouflage.
Due to its quality and sophistication, this mask is probably a rare « court » nuo mask which belonged to the same set as M-T1Q. Very good condition, some lacquer missing (see pix). 24 x 16 cms. 19th C or before. RM 93,145,163; MC 122-125 (see bibliography)

Price on Request Chinese Jade carving of a maiden representing "Yuenu", a historic figure famous for her ability at archery and how to use a sword. She came from the Chinese province of Zhejiang and is sometimes called the Maiden of the Southern Forrest. The jade is beautifully carved with her holding a sword in her left hand and a ruyi scepter in her right, cloths flowing in the wind.

beautiful at all angles. Made of a fine red colored clay, it was originally painted but the slip and color have worn away revealing only the clay underneath.

$1,850.00 Ancient Chinese Hongshan culture jade carving possibly of a turtle shell. Smoother surface on top with two holes. The underside carved with horizontal ridges. Carved of green jade with orange striations. Likely a burial or ceremonial artifact. Hongshan culture was located in the Liao river basin in northeastern China.
Age: 4700 - 2900 BC Dimensions: 1 7/8" long x 1 3/4" wide x 1/2" thick A very rare wood panel, covered with a white ground and decorated with a painting of a bodhisattva. This panel was found in a cave temple in the Dunhuang mountains in the Gansu Province. We acquired a group of six panels from a Dutch collector who bought the panels in China in the 1980's. Dimensions: 55x22 cm.
Tang Dynasty (618-906).Wooden objects from this period are quite rare.
