First edition Japanese "shin hanga" woodblock print by Takeji Asano (1900-2002) titled "Rain at Sanjusangendo Temple, Kyoto" dated Showa 28 (1953) in the lower right margin. The artist's black ink signature is at the lower right corner of the image. The right margin also bears the seal of the publisher Unsodo. This is a first edition impression as evidenced by the date seal which was carved off the wood printing block after the first edition. Paper size 10 1/2"V x 16"H (image: 9 3/8"V x 14 1/4"H). Excellent overall condition.
