Japanese Meiji Woodblock Print Diptych Toyonobu Samurai

Japanese woodblock print diptych depicting two samurai in a boat with a battle scene at a castle in the background by Utagawa Toyonobu (1859-1886) dated Meiji 16 (1883). Although lacking a title cartouche, this image appears to be from the series "Shinsen Taiko-ki " (New Biography of Taiko) which depicted the heroic deeds of Hideyoshi. Standard "oban" size panels measuring roughly 14 3/8"V x 9 3/8"H. Very good color and overall condition. The print is not backed. The bottom appears to be slightly trimmed and there are a few old repairs and some thinning of the paper at the edges.
