A CHINESE SOAPSTONE CARVING OF GUANYIN, 19TH CENTURY.
A lovely carving with great character depicting Guanyin reclining, two children carrying peaches accompany her. The carving is in pale grey soapstone and has traces of red and black painting. The carving is in one piece and is permanently fixed to a stained wood base. Early 19th century. 5.3/4 inches (14.6cm) long, 3.1/8 inches (8cm) high. Tip of Guanyin’s little finger missing, otherwise fine. Please study the photographs.
