Approximately daiting to 19th century, this is a kimono coat from currently Aomori prefecture made of died hemp with traditinal stitch work of Kogin embroidery.
Kogin is a Japanese needlework technique that both strengthened a fabric used for everyday wear, and make fabrics thicker to provide warmth. This developed hundreds years ago in northern part of Japan, current Aomori. Overall condition of this kimono is very good with some worn and minor old repair on hemp part.
