| The Kyongdae (Mirror Box) was one of the most prized possessions that a Choson Period new bride brought with her to her husband's household, and one of the most delightful pieces for collectors. It would hold cosmetics, hairpins, combs, trinkets, etc. The mirror is underneath the lid and lifts up, as seen in the second photo here. This elegant example features wonderful white brass butterflies, the magical and mythical pullocho longevity plant, and other symbols of good fortune in finely rendered white brass. This lovely box was surely treasured by a Choson Period lady. 10.75d x 7.75w x 5.75h inches, 27d x 20w x 15d cm. | ||
