Gold Lacquered Bi-Form Tebako (Cosmetic Box)

An overlapping bi-form tebako (cosmetic box) designed in hiramaki-e and togadashi. Autumnal imagery with mountains, streams, maple, pine and luxurious foliage adorns the exterior and sides, dense nashiji the interior and underside. Silver mounts and tomobako. Provenance: Signed on tomobako lid: "Gift by Empress at Hayama Goyotei (summer house), Taisho 6, March 3, 1918." This gold maki-e tebako is in good condition. Height: 2.75", length: 6.5" Meiji/Taisho Period, Japan
