| A richly silvered okimono of a predatory hawk with gilt and shakudo eyes. Clinging to a marvelously sculpted bronze tree trunk with its shibuichi talons, and chiseled realistically with each feather rising and overlapping the other, the creature tenses as it eyes its prey. This sculpture is in very good condition with no restoration or distress.(Two small air holes are positioned on the underside near each leg. The rectangular silver signature plaque of the great Meiji sculptor of animal art, Seiya, closeby.) Height: 23.75" Meiji Period, Japan | |||||||||
