Rare Vietnamese 15th Century Enamelled Porcelain Charger
This large and impressive enamelled blue & white porcelain dish was made during the late 15th century / early 16th century and was recovered from a shipwreck, reportedly the Hoi An wreck. The extremely rare and interesting pattern features a bird of prey, most likely an eagle, attacking a smaller bird, surrounded by trees, although much of the trees, as well as the detail to the feathers of both birds, are drawn in red enamel and now can mostly only be seen as a "ghost" pattern, the red enamel being "softer" than other enamels and not surviving so well. Diameter 35 cm. There is a chip to the rim and footrim. No restoration or repair; very good condition. A rare opportunity to acquire such a desirable example. Comes with custom-made padded box. *** TO ORDER THIS ITEM PLEASE EMAIL US QUOTING OUR STOCK NUMBER (see above) - WE SHALL THEN EMAIL YOU BACK WITH POSTAGE COSTS AND PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS *** *** FOR FULL DETAILS OF OUR GUARANTEE AND PAYMENT OPTIONS, PLEASE CLICK ON "Buying from us - All you need to know" ON OUR HOME PAGE *** |
