Vietnamese 15th Century Blue & White Porcelain Jar
This fine quality blue & white jar was made toward the end of the 15th century and was recovered from the Hoi An wreck. The decoration is painted in cobalt blue with floral and leaf patterns. The glaze is finely crackled. The recessed base is coated in a dark wash, a common feature of Vietnamese porcelain of this period. Height 9 cm (3.5 inches), diameter 9 cm (3.5 inches). Minor "nibbling" to the rim.
