Fine & Very Rare Chinese Neolithic / Bronze Age Siwa Culture
Burnished Pottery Amphora with Oxford TL Test This superb pottery vessel was made over 3,000 years ago by peoples of the Siwa Culture (c.1350 BC) from present day Gansu or Qinghai province. It is very finely constructed with high handles and a saddle-shaped mouth. Pottery jars from the Siwa culture are rarer than those of the preceding Qijia and Majiayao cultures and most known examples are made from an orange or buff coloured pottery. Black pottery jars are rarer still. The surface is finely burnished making this jar a real pleasure to handle as well as to look at! As with many of our finer items, we have had this vessel tested by Oxford Authentications, the ONLY scientific authenticators of ancient pottery accepted by ALL major dealers, auction houses and museums worldwide, and the Thermoluminescence Analysis Report that will accompany this item is shown with our pictures; this confirms the date of manufacture as "between 2,300 and 3,500 years ago". Height 21 cm (8.25 inches). We can detect no sign of restoration or repair. A fine example in excellent condition. To see a similar vessel refer to the book Dawn of the Yellow Earth, China Institute, ISBN 0-9654270-3-X. *** TO ORDER THIS ITEM PLEASE EMAIL US QUOTING OUR STOCK NUMBER (see above) - WE SHALL THEN EMAIL YOU BACK WITH POSTAGE COSTS AND PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS *** *** FOR FULL DETAILS OF OUR GUARANTEE AND PAYMENT OPTIONS, PLEASE CLICK ON "Buying from us - All you need to know" ON OUR HOME PAGE *** |
