Fine & Very Rare Tall Chinese Han Dynasty Glazed Jar
Fine & Very Rare Tall Chinese Han Dynasty Glazed Jar

This attractive pottery jar was made some 2,000 years ago during the Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 220). It is coated in a finely-crackled green glaze that has, in places, acquired a silvery iridescence, a result of exposure to moisture during its long burial. There are bands of incised lines surrounding the body at the shoulder and waist. There are minor kiln scars and two small scratches to the glaze on the side of the jar. Jars of this shape and size are extremely rare (in fact, this is the first time we have ever offered such an example).

Height 26 cm (10.25 inches). No repair or restoration; fine condition.
