Chinese B/W Porcelain Snuff Bottle. Mid. 19th.c.
A Good Large Chinese Blue & White Porcelain Snuff Bottle. 19th.c. Ht. 4 1/4 ins. (11.8 cms) This handsome bottle features a design of Dogs of Fo (Lion dogs), the traditional guardians of Buddhism, playing amongst conventional cloud scrolls. The stopper is ivory and stained ivory and the spoon is bone. It dates from the mid 19th. century but bears the reign mark of the Emperor Qianlong, in common with much 19th. century Chinese porcelain. Condition is excellent with no damage or repairs. It is part of a group from Christies, London. It has been well used and the interior still has traces of snuff.
