18th Century, Shan, Large Burmese Alabaster Buddha

Large Burmese alabaster buddha sitting in Mara Vijaya (calling the earth to witness) posture on lotus base, with meditative facial expression, emphasized by the half-closed eyes which look downward.

Top of the head is a stupa-shaped "flame" or called usnisa, symbol of the realization of Nirvana or indicative of supreme knowledge.

Age: Burma, Shan period, circa 18th Century
Measurement: Height 81.5 C.M. / Width 47 C.M. (size excluding black stand)
Condition: Nice conditon overall (some expected degradation due to its age). Please refer to the enlargement photos for more details.
