| DESCRIPTION: An archaic Chinese bronze daigou or garment hook, the front face finely inlaid in concentric circles and geometric patterns in silver, terminating in a tapering hook of a delicately modeled feline head with silver inlaid eyes. The reverse face has a projecting stud or knob for attachment through a slit in the belt or garment. Garment hooks of this shape are well known from the Eastern Zhou dynasty onward. Some are found in precious materials such as jade or gold, or in bronze and iron with jade, gold, or silver inlay. Dating from the Warring States/Han Dynasty period (480 BC – 220 AD), with a pleasing verte malachite encrustation in places. DIMENSIONS: 4 1/2” long (11.5 cm). | |||||||||||||||
