| DESCRIPTION: A carved agate snuff bottle in ovoid form, the stone of a very light celadon color with burnt orange inclusions which have been cleverly worked into the design. A crowing rooster is carved in high relief on one side, and as the bottle is turned we see the russet inclusion appear as the “rising sun,” tinting the morning clouds around it – very ingenious! The bottle has a raised, free-form foot and is topped with a lavender colored stone cap. Late Qing to early Republic (1880 – 1920) and in excellent condition. DIMENSIONS: 2 ¼” high (5.8 cm) x 1 ¾” wide (4.5 cm). | |||||||||||||||
