The size of Tea Bowl: 4 3/4" Dia x 3" High. It is the most unusual and unique Chawan, Tea Bowl ever seen. It is made by renown artist from Kyoto area, Kitamura Masao(1916- ). It has wonderful and unique blue green glazing done inside, mikomi. The tea bowl rim area with Yohen(natural glaze firing effect). The other part of glazing done in dark brown almost black. The condition of Chawan excellent, no chip, no crack and no hairline. Dating from 1960's. The last pamphlet showing the exhibition copy as well as the profile in Japanese. It came with Kiri wood Tomobako. Outside said, Yohen Yu Furiwake(two separate color) Chawan. Masao Saku(made) and sealed. It also came with orange cloth with Masao Stamped. Kitamura Masao(1916-) Born in Nara-city. Showa 8th, He graduated Kyoto City Kraft Ceramic course High scholl(today's Kyoto Kosen University.) Same year he has entered as the student of Kawai Einosuke, well known artist. Showa 16th, 1941, he graduated Yogyou-Dept(pottering). Show 22nd he has helped the techinical support on Tatsuno Yaki in Hyogo pref. Show 27th, 1652, he has joined to the Kusube Yaichi's Seitokai. Showa 33rd, 1958, He was recommended as the judge of Kyoto Art and Craft. During those years, his works were accepted in Nitten, Kyoto Art Exhibition, Kyoto-Prefecture Art Exhibition, and many others. He is regular Gendai Kougei artist member, as well as Kyoto Art and Craft artist member. He is 93 years old now. |
