Nicely Carved Japanese Imperial Silver Bonbonniere

The size of Bonbonniere: 2 7/8" Long x 7/8" High(7.3cm longest x 2.3 cm high). Very nicely/heavyly carved in the design of Ume-no-ki(plum tree) design, Japanese Imperial Silver Bonbonniere. It weight 2.7 ounces. Nice heavy weight for the size. It has Imperial Kiku Mon(chrysanthemum crest) with raised gold work. It has Jngin(pure silver) marking as well as the maker name, Shinjo in side way. The condition of bonbonniere excellent condition, no dent or repair. little age wear on the bottom. Box has patina from age inside and outside. We leave the way it is. Customer decide leave it as is or clean after purchase. Dating from Taisho to Early Showa, 1910-1925.

The name of bonbonniere from French word. It was originally came from using the little container as holding bonbons(confections of sweets). Japanese has the customs to use sugared confection as giftss. Sugar in form of fish and other. The gifts were givin as wedding gifts until recent years, some customs still exist. Imperial family had same customs in those days. Japanese silver bonbonniere are highly collectable by worldwide silver collectors.
