Amazingly Fine Japanese Silver Vase by Kobayashi Kako

The size of Silver Vase: 10 3/4" High(without Stand), w/ stand 11 1/2" H x 4 /4" Dia(widest). Top rim size 3" Dia. Bottom size 2 13/16" Exceptionally fine Japanese Sterling Silver Vase. The vase is made with sterling silver which is top grade 970/1000 purity silver. It is made by Miyamoto in Tokyo who supply fine silver ware to Imperial Household Agency(Kunaicho) since 1880. The design on the vase with Botan(Japanese peony) with Kujyaku(peacock) design over Rock desgin. The workmenship are fantastic which almost like fine brush painting. Although all of design are finely carved into sterling silver vase. Other material such as gold and Shibuichi(gold and silver alloy) are used. The gold are used on the center of peony flower, peacock legs as well as other part/ Shibuichi were used on the tips of leaves and dark leaf right above peacok with gold inlaid. The artisan of design works are done by Kako which I have his background in separate paragraph. The condition of silver vase is excellent, no dent, no restoration and very little wear. It has Miyamoto Kinsei on the bottom as well as Jungin(pure silver) marking in smaller marking below. Artist of Kako Chu(made)are carved on the side of vase. Dating from Taisho circa 1920's. The vase came with fine quality wooden carved stand. More close up photos at #821191. The weight of vase is 710 gramms(1 pound 9 oz).

Kobayashi Kako(1880-1955)
His real name is Kobayashi Tomokichi, Kako was Pen(Go) name for his works. He studied at Tokyo Bijutsu Gakko(Tokyo Fine Art School) and graduated. He is relating to Kobayashi Yoshiharu who was the student of 2nd Unno Yoshimori who was the master artisan of silversmith in Meiji. His work has been exhibited at San Francisco World Expo in 1925 as well Panama Pacific World Expo as well.

Miyamoto Shoko
Miyamoto Shoko was established in 1880 Miji 13th in Tokyo Japan by Miyamoto Masaru, as fine silver ware maker also with Zogan(inlaid), Tabaco Ire and silver frame. They have developed the business with embassy and starting selling to Imperial Household Agency. Their name has been well known among the oversea collector as well as domestic market who made top quality silver ware with 970/1000 purity silver grade. They has sent out such silver artist name, Kano Natsuo, Unno Shomin, Unno Yoshimori,Kagawa Masahiro and many other fine artist.
