| The size of painted fan: 18 1/2" Long x 8" Long. Pretty Japanese handpainted fan. The Fan is called Mekuri which was originally attached on Ohgi, Japanese fan. The painting done on gold leaf background. The scene from Imperial palace, scene from tale of Genji. Noble man and lady on the upper floor and looking down the iris on the garden, another Samurai looking over the iris as well. It is nicely painted in the Yamatoe style painting. The condition of painting is excellent. No tear on main part of painting. Little wear on the bottom edge as well as the corner which is expected for the age. Dating from late 19th century. It can be framed very nicely. The painting is loose sheet(Mekuri). | |||||||||
