| The size of Silver Box: 3 1/8" Dia x 1 3/4". Very nice Japanese Silver Bonbonniere. Bonbonniere was used for keeping bon-bon candy or chocolate in. It originally came from France. Silver La Bonbonniere(Kyoto people called Yanpo) was very popular in high society in Japan during Meiji. Especially among Koshitsu(imperial family) and their relatives. This Bonbonniere box has very nice embossed work around the top, side and bottom. It is solid silver. The body of silver box is lightly made with silver sheet. The condition of Bonbonniere is excellent condition. It has little bit wear around the edge. But it is pretty good for the age. Dating from meiji, 1868-1912. | |||||||||||
