The size of Fukusa: 28" L x 25 1/4" W, The size of white rectangular mat: 23 1/2" L x 10" W x 1" Thick, The size of red mat: 11" Sq x 1 1/4" Beautiful Japanese Fukusa set with two mats. Fukusa(Textile gift cover) is Japanese traditional formal presentation style when people get married and using fukusa as gift cover. This is very lovely fukusa done with gorgeous silk weaven with gold and silver thread including crane and turtle design which are symbol of long life with Sun and waving. It is nicely weight. It has Kiri Mon design on the back with gold thread embpriodery as well as on red mat. white mat and red mat are used with the gift on the top. Red futon is made with fine silk Chirimen crepe. White silk futon has the design of Kiku, and Sho Chiku Bai design with wave which can not shown by photo because dominated colors. Four corners has gold thread design made into turtle design. Very impressive size which can be framed as fine decoration. The conditon of Fukusa and mats are excellent. the fukusa article was featured in Daruma magazine No. 54 just came out. Please note Fukusa is perfectly square. Dating from 1940-60. |
