| A hexagonal snuff bottle - or even possibly a medicine bottle - made of wood inlaid with bone ivory insets. The wood is probably rosewood from the from the color and grain. Each of the bone ivory insets have different incised picture of flowers - the both the top and the bottom of the piece are lappet border of palm leaves. The top is solid wood with a pouring spout made of the same ivory and made as a screw top for a screw on lid. The top stopper and spoon are missing. The base is undecorated wood. The piece measures 4" high and is 1 5/8" diameter. With the exception of the missing lid/stopper it is in excellent condition. We date it to late Qing Dynasty, circa 1890-1910. | ||||||||
