A Red Glass Covered Ceramic Pot

A very curious and unusual piece that we believe dates from the mid to late 20th century. What we have here is a round covered pot with two handles and a lid with what is unquestionably a pottery body – but it is covered with a gorgeous cardinal red glazed crackle material that appears to be glass. If not glass, then it is some clear glaze that we have never seen before. The pot it is excellent condition – however, the lid has been dropped and cracked in half at some point in it’s history - but very well repaired. There is a rim frit that lets the pottery under base show through, otherwise, we would have believed the pot to be solid glass. The piece measures 3” high and is 4” in diameter.
