19th century Height: 3 in (7.4 cm) Diameter: 3 in (7.6 cm) A small white jar with a five-color overlay (blue, red, green, pink and amber), carved with two roosters, a cat and butterfly, rockwork, bamboo and plum blossoms emerging from a vase. The mouth and foot rim lined with a brown overlay. Together with a finely carved openwork jadeite replacement cover. The rooster on a rock carries wishes of good fortune at home while the cat associated with the butterfly means “May you live well into your eighties.” See Bartholomew (2006), 5.31.4, 7.6.1 and 7.8.1.
