Chinese Carved Jade Jadeite Snuff Bottle Shi Shi
A very finly carved and beautifully shaped antique Chinese jadeite snuff bottle, 19th century. Jadeite is regarded as a very precious gemstone in asia, even more precious than jade. Due to its hardness (7) and fragility, rarely to see the jadeite snuff bottle with complicated carvings. This bottle is in flattened rectangular form with rounded shoulders extending to a cylindrical neck, supported on a raised foot with recessed base. The bottle is well hollowed and of even colour with apple green colour with high relief carving of twin lion dogs (Shi Shi) playing a knotted ball, also carved with floating ruyi clouds.

Coral stopper carved a Chilong.

3" (7.6 cm) tall including stopper. Weight: 118 grams.

Condition: Very good condition. No damage. Age wear.
