The early 20C Japanese wooden lacquer Kogo (or incense case) is decorated with design of Oni (Japanese demon or ogre) with togidashi-makie.
Togidashi-makie technique : The design is painted in lacquer, and gold or silver powder is sprinkled over it, when the lacquer is dry, black lacquer is applied over the entire surface, after it has dried it is burnished until the gold powder is faintly revealed.
