Chinese Qing dynasty porcelain bowl decorated in brilliant famille rose enamels with a bird and flower motif. A four-character iron-red square Tongzhi mark is on the base. The bright enamels suggest this bowl is of the period (1862-1874), but it could date as late as the Guangxu period (late 19th century). Measures 6 5/8” diameter x 2 ˝” high. Very good overall condition with no chips or cracks. There is some typical wear to the gilt on the rim. This bowl is from a Tucson, Arizona estate.

Fine old Burmese red lacquerware bowl with quatrefoil “ku-nan-kan-yat” motif which is one of oldest and more common designs, according to Sylvia Fraser Liu: Burmese Lacquerware. This one dates to circa 1950 to 1960; there are some cracks in the lacquer which is one of the few reliable determining any significant age besides minute detailing in the design. Unless a piece of lacquer is hermetically sealed, it will crack even if it is not used due to oxidation caused by exposure to air and ... Click for details

Fine and rare ensemble of crystal and Chinese trade beads. The emerald green beads are quite unusual in their large size and color, made in China in the 19th century, these were specifically created for the diverse ethnic groups of Southwest China and their neighbors who employed them in jewelry making and textile fringe designs. Some of the beads are fused together and were originally part of a much longer “tube”. These were intentionally made this way so they could be easily snapped of... Click for details
