Woven in a Toraja village in South Sulawesi, Indonesia, this large 30-year-old ikat is made of exceptionally heavy cotton. The reddish brown, cream and blue are traditional Toraja colors used for their abstract patterned weavings. The piece has minimal fading and is in excellent condition. Dimensions: length 84" (214 cm), width 26" (66 cm).

This piece is only about 30 years old but the colors in the silk threaded center field are absolutely gorgeous. This piece is still sewn together and in excellent condition. Fine Vietnamese hand spun cotton with silk embroidery, skirt from the Tai Daeng ethnic group of north central Vietnam. Circa 40 to 60 years old in good condition except for a couple of patches on the hem. This piece has more silk embroidery than the other two Tai Daeng textiles on my site, and waist band is hand spun cotton as well. This piece is still sewn together. H: 79cm/31in and W: 63cm/24.8in (x 2).

Circa 40 to 60 years old and in good condition except for a small hole and some tearing at the top of the “store bought” cotton waist band. Exceptionally fine and rare Iban woman’s skirt with “lintah betgam” - leeches swallowing each and bamboo shoot pattern. Circa 1920, this piece has a bold design woven from all handspun cotton and natural dyes with the occasional indigo highlight. Good Iban woman’s skirt with “eyes of the green pigeon” pattern and hawks flying above the forest canopy, circa 1920s, composed of all natural dyes and handspun thread.
