Late 14th/Early 15th Century Rare and Important Early Buncheong Bowl with Black and White Slip Inlaid geese (symbol of faithfulness), cranes (symbol of faithfulness and longevity), and orchids (symbol of modesty and purity). This is an important piece because it was created right on the cusp between Goryeo Dynasty celadon and Joseon Dynasty buncheong, and has elements of both, making it a rare transitional piece. Exquisite Lotus Form Celadon Saucer with the most desirable sea-green color found only in 12th Century Korean celadon. This is the color that inspired the Chinese to refer to Korean celadon as "first under Heaven". The Korean love of forms from nature is evident here in the graceful foliate shape of this saucer. Koryo dynasty olive toned celadon bowl with a large, impressed peony decoration inside the bowl and incised fine line around the inside of the foliate rim. The body thinly potted but strong as in the manner of Chinese Yingqing wares of the same period. Perhaps slightly more stout than Yingqing wares, it emits a similar resonance when lightly tapped. 12th Century. The cavetto with inlaid white slip decoration including ornamental band inside the rim and four strawberry sprays surrounding centered chrysanthemum flowerhead within double ring.
