This is a fine woodblock print by the highly regarded Meiji woodblock artist, Tsukioka Yoshitoshi. It shows a geisha with a fan and an elegant kimono – a full moon in the upper left. The print is beautifully framed in a gold painted frame that measures 21 ½” by 16” and is triple matted. The print itself measures 14 ½” by 9 5/8” – it is in excellent condition with no toning, foxing nor any other problems. It has not been examined out of the frame. This is a striking Aizuri-e blue print of a Geisha sitting on a low bench as if waiting for a a client or for another Geisha to go their local Geisha house. Her kimono is extremely ornate and is superbly drawn – as are her hair pieces, her obi and the bench on which she sits. Behind her is a picture of Mt. Fuji in a circular frame and a hanging cloth with kanji characters on it.
