The size of Chawan: 4 3/4" Dia x 2 15/16" High
Artist: Kiyomizu Rokubei VI (1901-1980). Very fine Japanese Tea Bowl, Chawan. It is made by Rokubei VI in 1966. The reason of dateing is because of Kanji letter added by when Mishima Kaiun was at age of 88 years old, Beiju. Beiju is 88 years old celebration time. Chawan has Hakeme(brush line work). The size of Chawan: 4 1/2" Dia x 3 1/4" High. Very attractive Chawan. Chawan was made with Seto Clay, Akazu yaki with Oribe Yu(green glazing). It has very nice Keshiki. Two area of deep green on each side of bowl. It feel very homey when holding in the hand. The type of Raku Chawan. It is made by Nakajima Shunsho. Here is a set of five Mishima style kumidashi tea cups by Izu-based Karatsu potter Nakatsuka Takaya. Nakatsuka fires all his work in a large noborigama chambered climbing kiln and was one of the first potters we featured in our gallery almost ten years ago.
